Yakushin Jo recently completed the "deck of her dreams.Jo reveals that the key to designing the perfect living space is to first think about how you are going to use the space. Once you know how your deck will function as an extension of your home, it becomes infinitely easier to decide what should go into the design.
For Jo's deck, he wanted to create a place where her large family could gather and spend time together. She designed her deck with various "rooms" to give definition and purpose to her space.
To start, she planned out living room, dining room, outdoor kitchen, and a cozy seating . Next, she looked for materials that were both design-forward and low-maintenance.
